100 mile & 20 mile relays:
The relay event has 100 mile & 20 mile options with teams of up to 5.
The 20 mile loop consists of 5 different legs to complete.
Every runner must run AT LEAST 1 leg depending on the teams distance.
The 20 mile team's runners will all run 1 leg to complete the 20 mile relay race.
For the 100 mile, the teams can choose how the runners complete each of the legs that make up their full distance in any runner order they would like so long as every runner runs AT LEAST 1 of the legs.
No matter which runner runs which leg and when, all legs must be run in sequential order.
Relay races will be chip timed via a bracelet which must be worn outside of clothing and exchanged at each trade off of runners. Each team is responsible for the timing mechanism and if lost could result in lost tracking, improper timing and results. or possibly incurred costs. The trackers are capable of enduring weather so please keep on your leg or wrist for proper chip reading at the timing mats. Please do not put the timing chip inside your pack/zip lock as this could cause a failure to be read by the timing system.
Additionally, timing may not keep 100% accuracy due to the nature of the event and will be updated internally at various times throughout the event.
Relay races are fun runs with no awards other than bragging rights...come ready to send it but more importantly to have a blast and cheer everyone else on!
Relay Teams:
Runners on course are welcome to aid station food but please coordinate food for team members throughout the day. Bring snacks to get you through the day! The aid stations are for those runners out on course. We reserve the right to limit 'grazing' of non running relay runners from our aid station tables so to be able to accommodate solo runners.
++Side note: you can easily order food on site or drive 10 mins to Fenton/Valley park or Eureka to grab food from stores or restaurants and bring it back on site.. Perks of our location!
For your 100 mile relay teams, remember that the only rule we have for you to set up how your team runs the relay is that everyone must run at least one leg.
Relay teams must NOT hang out within the aid stations due to indoor spacing limits which causes issues for solo runner/crews trying to access drop bags, aid and such.
Lodging:
We have a large open space indoors which most teams set up 'camp' of tents, mattresses, tables etc and use to sleep, eat and exchange stories with others while their teams run.
Additionally, teams can rent cabins through the BSA website. This allows more privacy and spacing for your teams and is on a first come, first serve basis. All costs and agreements are between teams and the boy scouts as we do not handle this aspect.
**Note: PR Racing/The Shippey does not coordinate nor take responsibility for any cabin damage or rental fees, agreements or concerns.
