"A partnership forged in Fire & Ice; Two Races, Two Courses, One Goal - To Conquer Them All.

Presented By:

Join us for the Shippey Endurance Runs in partnership with Shawnee Hills Trail Runs.

Conquer the Midwest with our unique Missouri ultra marathons to attain this sweet award!"

About The fire & ice award

Qualifying distances: 100 mile & 100K

Runners must sign up for and complete the SAME distance at each event within the SAME calendar year to secure this added piece of commemorative swag. This means you must complete the 100 mile at Shippey Endurance Runs in January and the 100 mile at Shawnee Hills that same August OR complete the 100K at both to get the hardware. Runners participating in the Missouri ultra marathons, including the 40 miler, need to adhere to these requirements to qualify.

Runners who finish the 100 mile at one event and the 100K at the other DO NOT qualify, nor do the distances rollover to the following year.

Awards: These will be handed out after completion of the qualifying distance at Shawnee Hills in August. Runners will be mailed a personalized plate to be attached to the base of the award which will have: Their name, race dates, and finishing times.

BONUS: All those who complete the series will receive discounted entry into the next year's events!

The Shippey - ICE

The Shippey endurance runs offer a picturesque view into the beautiful private trails of Beaumont Scout Reservation during the heart of the Midwest winter. This Missouri ultra marathon features sub-zero temperatures, snow, ice, and potential mud, all while challenging runners with relentless short steep ups and downs over the 20-mile loop. The course is comprised of 5 smaller legs, where the comfort of the indoor aid stations makes those howling cold winds even harder to venture back into. The event changes directions each year, providing runners with a unique experience on these trails that feature pine forests, ridgeline running, and deep hollows, where switchbacks are rare, making the climbs and descents more difficult. For those looking for an even greater challenge, the Shippey also includes a 40 miler option, making it one of the standout Missouri ultra marathons.

Shawnee Hills - FIRE

Shawnee Hills, situated in Camp Ondessonk in the heart of the Shawnee National Forest, offers a unique experience during the heat and humidity of midwest summers. As participants of the 40 miler challenge, runners will have the opportunity to explore some of the most stunning and extraordinary rock formations and waterfalls that Shawnee National Forest is renowned for. The vegetation here consists largely of oak-hickory, maple-beech, and pine forests. This course will take you deep into the sandstone canyon systems of Southern Illinois' Shawnee Hills Natural Division while traversing Jackson Hollow and the Bay Creek Reservoir. Along the way, you will encounter several breathtaking waterfalls, including Pakentuck Falls (the tallest free-falling waterfall in Illinois), Jackson Falls, Horseshoe Falls, and Cedar Falls, along with inspiring views from Salomon's Ridge. This event is not only a highlight of the Missouri ultra marathons but is also part of the Shippey endurance runs, making it a must-participate for ultra marathon enthusiasts.
